Students who have been faced with trauma can benefit from developing the soft skills that are incorporated in an SEL curriculum. We will discuss trauma, how it affects brain development, and the approach we have taken to support students with the use of SEL competencies through an equity lens.

The Disappearance of Illinois Teachers
The Illinois teacher shortage is real, and the vital signs regarding recruiting and sustaining teachers, especially teachers of color are rapidly deteriorating. When teacher pipeline indicators (state and federal policy, teacher certification and evaluation assessments, and low teacher pay) are taken into account, the shortage is even more acute. Join Dr. Jim Rosborg, former Director of Graduate Education at McKendree University, for a timely discussion about the teacher shortage and recommendations to revitalize the teacher pipeline.

2022 Districts Leading with Equity Conference
To ensure all students have the resources they need to be successful in their K-12 school experience, districts need to make sure the right support systems, structures, supports, and practices are in place from the boardroom to the classroom. The 2022 Districts Leading with Equity conference will provide specific resources and tools to support school board members and district personnel to continually promote and enhance equity throughout their districts.
