Black History through Science

Service Description

We have taken our favorite hands-on STEM activities and integrated Black history for a 8-week course designed for students grades 7-9. A great course for families wanting high quality science that is culturally and socially relevant, this is for you! We will explore concepts and principles of biology, chemistry, and physics integrated with social studies, throw in a little creativity, and mix in tons of fun! Each participant will receive a STEM kit with supplies and materials. GRADES: 7-9 REQUIRED TEXT: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lack (2010). Rebecca Skloot ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Registration covers up to 3 students in a family for a course. Please indicate the names of each child in a family registering for a course. The event will kick-off with parent orientation and Q&A session Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Central.
